A "mobile" website, or a mobile-ready website, is a website specifically created for the mobile (e.g. smart phone, tablet) environment. Mobile websites use different conventions than a traditional computer, because our fingers are much bigger (and clumsier) than a mouse on a desktop computer. There's so much less real estate on a mobile device, and everything is smaller, so the information you want to convey must be presented bigger and simpler. A normal computer website that is non-mobile will use clunky dropdown menus, small text and formats that may not easily fit on a smart phone's screen.
